Lewis and Clark camped near the location of the present day Lochsa Lodge. 2003-2006 marked the Bicentennial of their historic journey. Before Lewis and Clark, the Nez Perce Indians used the trail to travel to the buffalo hunting grounds in Montana. A newly cleared stretch of Historic Lewis and Clark Trail passes through the Lochsa Lodge area, opening up a beautiful 8 mile stretch between the Wendover/WhiteHouse and Whitesands Campgrounds along the Lochsa River for you to explore. |
