Winter

Winter is magic out here in the backcountry.

We might be crazy, but we’re open year-round!   Winter is a magical time of year on the Lochsa.  The area around Lochsa Lodge is ideal for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or snowmobiling, all accessible directly from our wintry hideaway. Need help sourcing snowshoes? Just ask.   There’s nothing quite like a bonfire on a cold & snowy night or a glass of wine by the fire in the lodge after a hot meal.  Come up for a visit!

Jerry Johnson Hot Springs

Wild & Scenic HotspringS

Cap off your chilly day with a dip in one of two backcountry hot springs: Jerry Johnson Hotspring, which is located 10 miles west of the lodge, and Weir Creek Hotspring, which is 20 miles west of the lodge. It’s about a 1.5 mile hike into both locations, but the payoff — a well-earned “ahhhhhh” — is worth the effort.  Make sure you bring traction cleats, spikes, snowboots, or snowshoes – the trails can be very icy in winter.
